The Atmosphere cluster deals with measuring and modeling the evapotranspiration and resultant rainfall variability in West Africa and the Volta Basin depending on global climate changes and regional land use changes. The objectives are an accurate prediction of the water availability in different regions of the Basin, a quantification of the feedback mechanisms between vegetation, soil and precipitation, and the provision of a vital part of the DSS. Most recent precipitation estimation obtained from the daily forecasting performed at IMK-IFU.
